Ive been a journalist for a decade, including 3 years in Japan. I will tell you that most of the reporting on Japan in U.S. media is inaccurate (except mine, lol). I speak Japanese but when I was in Japan I was appalled to learn that journalists with very major U.S. media who were stationed in Japan spoke ZERO Japanese, They also had ZERO Japanese friends and hung around other expats, re-enforcing each other's inaccurate beliefs about Japan. Kyung Lah of CNN was the WORST Japan correspondent I'd ever seen. And she speaks zero Japanese. She was completely incompetent as a "journalist." Her stories were a joke. Yuta is a better reporter than most of them.
