文章のスタイルの問題に関するケチについては、どっちが正しいかわからない。例えば、
例えば、おれの若い頃は、国は 女性代名詞と習ったものだが・・・・
これは典型的な論理誤謬で、
誰の議論を引用するにせよ、その議論が妥当か、その証拠が真実か、などだけが問題である。

ここらへんはおおきいだろうね。
当時、もうひとり、だれだっけ・・・・、トバイス氏とか言ったっけ、なんか、も勉強不足で、軍隊による、女性の強姦、および、人身売買の結果や貧困におる身売りした女性たちによる売春宿の利用が、日本だけの問題でないことに気づいていなかった。
いったん言ったことを取り消すというのは、認知の不協和を発生させる、ということもあるかもしれないが、他国、他人のことだと気軽に正義感ぶって非難するくせに、自国、自分のことは棚にあげておく、というのも、まあ、人情ではある。もっとも、正義に反する。それにどう向き合うかだね。
なるほどね、うまいいこというね。
情緒的にしか反応できないのは、歴史的な真実や、女性の福祉に関心があるのではない、というのは、これは全く同感ですね。その次が面白くて、そうした人たちは、自国の安全保障問題よりも、自分の純粋に利己的な理由で動いているから ナショナリストと呼べない、というわけですね。
日本にも国益に反すると思われるような、保守、右翼はいる。

これは典型的な論理誤謬で、
アメリカ人の書いたものは引用するな、というのと同じ。
誰の議論を引用するにせよ、その議論が妥当か、その証拠が真実か、などだけが問題である。

Speaking out on the subject, or attacking politicians such as Aso or Abe for white-washing history, obviously makes it difficult for them to retract past statements. Whether you call it cognitive dissonance, entrenchment or simple pride, it can be very hard, even for the most well-educated to admit that a long and passionately held view might be unsound.

The only people who can benefit from an emotional approach to the subject are those who hope to mine it for political leverage, people who clearly have no interest in historical truth, the welfare of women or the future security of Japan and the two Koreas. Calling such people 'nationalists' is overlooking the clear evidence that they have no sincere interest in promoting the national security of their country and are instead driven by purely selfish aims.

Germany doubles arms supplies to Persian Gulf nations - report

German military exports to Persian Gulf nations doubled in 2012 amid repeatedly-voiced international concerns over gross human rights violations in the region. The German government has been fiercely accused of unscrupulousness in arms sales.
The latest report published by Munich-based Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper suggests that German arms export to the six nations belonging to the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf has grown two-fold, from 570 million euro in 2011 to 1.42 billion euro in 2012.
The report cites Germany’s Economy Ministry which has named Saudi Arabia as the biggest buyer of German-made weapons, buying 1.24 billion euro worth of German security hardware last year (1.1 billion euro of which was spent on border security devices).
The other countries are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
All these countries have been accused of violating human rights on a regular basis.

イメージは五輪の入場行進。愛国心を訴えるテーマでありながら、家族連れの目を引くため着ぐるみを用意し、風船は革新系団体のデモからヒントを得た。外国人への排他的な掛け声を禁じ、感謝の言葉や「ふるさと」など日本の唱歌を歌いながら歩く形にした。
日の丸をもっと小さくするか、あるいは、くまもん、あたりのゆるきゃら連中を増やして、日の丸鉢巻をつけさせるとか・・・・
国旗が大好きというのは、韓国とかアメリカとか強烈にナショナリズムが強い国を想起する。

沖縄県で昨年１０月、２０代の女性を暴行してけがを負わせたとして、集団強姦致傷罪などに問われた米海軍兵２人の裁判員裁判初公判が２６日、那覇地裁（鈴木秀行裁判長）で開かれ、２人は起訴内容を大筋で認めた。
３等兵曹スカイラー・ドージャーウォーカー被告（２３）は「認めます」と述べ、上等水兵クリストファー・ブローニング被告（２４）は「認めるが（事前に）共謀はなかった」と主張した。
検察側は冒頭陳述で、ドージャーウォーカー被告がブローニング被告に犯行を持ちかけ、ブローニング被告が承諾したと主張。「ドージャーウォーカー被告は女性のマンションの入り口付近で、女性の背後から首を絞めて、ブローニング被告と駐車場に連れて行き、２人で暴行した。女性は殺されるという恐怖感から抵抗できなかった」と指摘した

Anti-whalers Sea Shepherd are pirates, says US court

The US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals castigated the group on Monday for the tactics used in its relentless campaign to disrupt the annual whale hunt off the dangerous waters of Antarctica.
"You don't need a peg leg or an eye patch," Chief Judge Alex Kozinski wrote for the unanimous three-judge panel.
"When you ram ships; hurl glass containers of acid; drag metal-reinforced ropes in the water to damage propellers and rudders; launch smoke bombs and flares with hooks; and point high-powered lasers at other ships, you are, without a doubt, a pirate, no matter how high-minded you believe your purpose to be."
The same court in December ordered the organisation to keep its ships at least 457m from Japanese whalers.
The whalers have since accused the protesters of violating that order at least twice this month.
The ruling overturned a Seattle trial judge's decision siding with the protesters and tossing out a lawsuit filed by a group of Japanese whalers seeking a court-ordered halt to the aggressive tactics, many of which were broadcast on the Animal Planet reality television show Whale Wars.
US District Judge Richard Jones had sided with Sea Shepherd on several grounds in tossing out the whalers' piracy accusations and refusing to prohibit the conservation group's protests.
He had determined the protesters' tactics were nonviolent because they targeted equipment and ships rather than people.
The district judge had also said the whalers were violating an Australian court order banning the hunt and so were precluded from pursuing their lawsuit in the US.
The appeals court on Monday called Judge Jones' ruling "off base" and took the rare step of ordering the case transferred to another Seattle judge to comply with its new ruling this week.
The appeals court said Judge Jones had misinterpreted the Australian ruling, which didn't address the protesters' actions.
"The district judge's numerous, serious and obvious errors identified in our opinion raise doubts as to whether he will be perceived as impartial in presiding over this high-profile case," Judge Kozinski wrote.
Charles Moure, a lawyer representing Sea Shepherd, said he would ask an 11-judge panel of the 9th Circuit to reconsider Monday's ruling, including Jones' removal from the case.
"They are killing whales in violation of an Australian court order," Mr Moure said.
